The checklist on the following page is to be completed for each student. Please refer to separate mapping document for specific details relating to alignment of this task to the unit requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This competency is to be assessed using standard and authorised work practices, safety requirements and environmental constraints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Assessment of essential underpinning knowledge will usually be conducted in an off-site context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Assessment is to comply with relevant regulatory or Australian standards&#8217; requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Resource implications for assessment include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an induction procedure and requirement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>realistic tasks or simulated tasks covering the mandatory task requirements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>relevant specifications and work instructions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>tools and equipment appropriate to applying safe work practices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>support materials appropriate to activity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>workplace instructions relating to safe work practices and addressing hazards and emergencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>material safety data sheets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>research resources, including industry related systems information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reasonable adjustments for people with disabilities must be made to assessment processes where required. This could include access to modified equipment and other physical resources, and the provision of appropriate assessment support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This assessment task requires you to inspect a civil structure as nominated by your Assessor. This Assessment task requires the completion of a Level 2 inspection in accordance with local state legislation and regulations as per your state. The task requires you to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>interpreting project contract specification requirements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>applying procedures to problem solve<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>making decisions for activity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>carrying out continuous improvement in meeting task outcomes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and these will be relevant to the structure being assessed. Generic Bridge and Culvert inspection forms are included following for you to record your inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note: Where specific state forms are relevant and available, the attached forms may be substituted with the mandatory state forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the purposes of the assessment, civil structures that you are required to inspect will include one or more of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Civil Concrete Structures, Including:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bridges, including their:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>foundations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>abutments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>piers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>beams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>decks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>pre-cast and in-situ elements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>normally reinforced and pre-stressed elements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Retaining walls<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Water storage tanks and small dams<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Noise barriers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Culverts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Safety barriers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Civil Steel Structures, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>bridges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sign gantries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>vertical sign supports<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>noise barrier supports<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>guardrails<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Civil Timber Structures, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>bridges, jetties and wharves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>retaining walls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>noise barriers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Civil Masonry, Crib and Gabion Structures, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>masonry walls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>crib walls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gabion walls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>foundations for these walls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assessment Task Assessor Note These instructions must be followed when assessing the student in this unit.
