Using a case study analysis, this assignment focuses on critically analysing factors that impact a child&#8217;s growth and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Factors can include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>food and nutrition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>parents and home environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>siblings and extended family<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>peers, educators and early childhood environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are required to define and explain the factor\/s using readings and literature that are relevant and highly applicable to support your analysis. You will need to analyse the impact of this factor on ONE domain of child development (physical or cognitive or language or socioemotional) during key periods of early years ranging from birth to five years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This assignment requires you to respond to the following early childhood case study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Case study: The story of Alice and her family<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alice is turning 3.5 years old in November 2023. She currently attends the Brilliant Early Childhood Centre, which is situated very near her home. Alice is of mixed parentage &#8211; her mother is a Malaysian-born Australian who migrated to Australia in 2015 when she married Alice&#8217;s father, who is an Australian&nbsp;Caucasian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alice is tall for her age and has brown hair and eyes. Alice is generally very bubbly and is an active girl. She particularly loves dancing around in her much-loved pink tutus. Her favourite food is chicken pasta. She also loves sweet drinks such as apple juice and absolutely cringes at drinking water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alice is not the only child in the family. Alice has twin baby brothers who were born prematurely early this year. At six months old, her brothers are still struggling with health issues and have been challenging for her parents. Alice&#8217;s mother, Sia, is constantly in the hospital with the babies, and during these times, either Alice&#8217;s father (Mark) or her paternal grandparents look after Alice. Mark plays the guitar and sings with Alice just before bedtime. Alice loves those times with her dad. When Alice is looked after by her grandparents, they spoil her rotten. She is late to sleep, and she has chocolates and sweet snacks whenever she likes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Alice is home with her mother, Sia tries to maintain a strict routine to ensure she can juggle looking after the twins and Alice. Alice sometimes throws tantrums, especially near bedtimes. She asks Sia to sing just like Mark does, and Sia does not have the patience or time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most times, when all is well with the twins, Sia walks Alice to childcare with her brothers in their pram. Walking Alice to childcare poses a challenge to Sia as Alice often likes to run ahead despite being called back. Since the twins are fragile, Sia is extra cautious, and Alice running off upsets Sia greatly. Alice gets scolded on the way to childcare, and Alice arrives at childcare upset and in tears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alice&#8217;s educator at childcare is Sarah. Sarah finds Alice refuses to share her toys with other children. Sarah is also concerned that Alice is sometimes physically aggressive with her little friends when she does not get her way. Sarah reaches out to Sia about her concerns but finds that Sia gets defensive and upset about her daughter&#8217;s behaviour. Sarah makes a note to talk with Mark instead when he comes in next to drop Alice off at childcare. Meanwhile, she shares her concerns with the centre director, who advises Sarah to keep trying to be compassionate and firm with Alice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to respond to the case study<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>When completing your response to the case study of Alice and her family, ensure that you do the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Introduce your assignment with an outline of what you will be discussing, including factor\/s of focus (food and nutrition, parents and home environment, siblings and extended family, peers, educators and early childhood environment) and the developmental domain of your choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Based on the case study, identify the factors that impact the child&#8217;s growth and development. Highlight the strengths and challenges of the child in the case study. Briefly link these to the ONE domain that has been identified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Discuss why the chosen domain is important for teachers to understand. Support your definition and explanations with readings and literature that are relevant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. Discuss at least three (3) strategies to support the child and how this will encourage growth and development in relation to EYLF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5.
