What is one of the earliest songs you remember hearing?&nbsp;Or&nbsp;singing?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do you remember any stories that\u00a0were told\u00a0in your family?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does your family have a tradition of oral storytelling?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did you sing together?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did you say prayers together?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How did you use language in play with peers, siblings, family\u00a0etc?\u00a0Was it loud?\u00a0Quiet?\u00a0Was it very physical or\u00a0very verbal?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did you have a\u00a0favourite\u00a0storybook\u00a0that someone special read aloud to you?\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did someone in your family read to you?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did you have a special made-up \u201clanguage\u201d with a friend or sibling?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What do you remember about learning two or multiple languages?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You may think of other experiences not in this list of\u00a0examples\u00a0 -that\u2019s great! Remember to keep the focus on oral language (not\u00a0about reading or writing). You can post on the discussion board if\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0not sure.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Choose 1-2 experience(s) to focus on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Think about how that experience connects to what you have learnt so far about oral language, early language and emergent literacy. Make clear and explicit connections to the unit readings. Consider the learning outcomes you need to show you understand that language and emergent-literacy is a social act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. Begin sketching out a script for your podcast. How did the experience(s):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Shape your identity?\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Show that language is a social act?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to building important pre-literacy skills?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect to your understanding of receptive and expressive language?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect to your understanding of language learning in ECE?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build your oral language confidence (or perhaps impacted negatively?) or connect to your culture?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect to greater political, social or cultural influences?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5. Use at least 2 academic (scholarly) references to support your ideas. These include readings from the reading list. You can also use more informal sources in addition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6. Revise your script. Ask a peer or colleague to review your writing. Make sure you have&nbsp;referred back&nbsp;to the assessment rubric and included all elements required.&nbsp; Double-check your citations and bibliography.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7.
