Examples of this condition include, but are not restricted to Gastrointestinal disorders (GORD\/Obesity), Musculoskeletal (Osteoporosis), Endocrine (Hypo\/Hyperthyroidism, Diabetes Mellitus), Heart, Respiratory, Urinary conditions etc<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note: Neurological conditions are excluded (these are covered in Neurobiological Disorders Module in Stage 3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Assignment Guidelines<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Introduction:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The student may select the relevant condition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The introduction must present the person\u2019s condition and the rationale for selecting this condition to discuss.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main Body:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Analyse the aetiology and pathophysiology of the condition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe the clinical features and associated complications of the condition. Discuss the nursing care that the person may require in collaboration with allied health professionals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analyse the appropriate medical\/pharmacological management and\/or prevention of this condition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explore the additional considerations that may be required to support a person with an intellectual disability with their lived experience of this condition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Include evidence of best practice and current knowledge which must be referenced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Conclusion:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Draw together the issues explored and the key issues raised in the study.<br>The DKIT (2019) Harvard system of referencing must be used.<br>You can include Appendices at the back of your assignment.<br>The assignment must be accompanied by an Assignment Cover Sheet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assignments must be submitted via turnitin.<br>Plagiarism is a serious offence and will be dealt with through the formal college procedures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Read the DKIT policies on \u2018Academic Integrity\u2019 and \u2018Assignment Guidelines and Assessment Criteria for Written Work\u2019 at www.dkit.ie, Click on \u2018About DKIT\u2019 then click on \u2018Policies\u2019.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools cannot be used in this assessment task.
