This assignment aims to evaluate your understanding of diabetes and its implications, the types and causes of diabetes, person-cantered approaches when supporting individuals with diabetes, nutritional needs, factors relating to an individual\u2019s experience of diabetes, the importance of monitoring diabetes, and the links between diabetes and other conditions. The unit \u201cDiabetes Awareness\u201d focuses on seven key learning outcomes. Each learning outcome has specific assessment criteria that learners must meet to demonstrate competency in understanding and supporting individuals with diabetes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Understand Diabetes and the Associated Implications
Assessment Criteria:<\/strong>
1.1 Define diabetes.
1.2 Identify prevalence rates for different types of diabetes.
1.3 Describe possible key long-term complications to health because of having diabetes.
1.4 Explain what is meant by the term hyperglycaemia.
1.5 Explain what is meant by the term hypoglycaemia.
