Case Study<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are on fieldwork placement with a local occupational therapist who is part of the Aspect school team. You are on a six week placement as part of this team. Your supervisor has advised you that one of your clients will be Michael, a 14 year old adolescent boy who attends the school and is in year 9. He attends a specialist Aspect class, located within an Aspect unit at a mainstream school. (Gain all the information you require about Michael by completing the module on Disability Dynamic about Michael<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and his family – you will need to demonstrate completion) Michael, his family, teachers and other therapists have been working on life skill development over the part year. He has learnt how to manage tasks at home such as making his bed, taking out and sorting the rubbish, and sweeping the path. He has also been learning money management, including the use of his keycard and bank account during community shopping. Michael has also learnt how to walk home from school independently. He is very proud of his achievements and enjoys contributing to his family\u2019s home management. His parents are keen to keep a forward focus as they know it takes time to develop new skills with Michael. So they have talked to you and your supervisor about looking towards Michael\u2019s future as an older adolescent and eventually a young adult. Therefore, they\u2019d like to work on developing Michael\u2019s independence even further in relation to activities of daily living. They have specifically identified that Michael would like to be able to:Make his lunch every day for school; 17-Manage his own laundry (this will involve using a front loader washing machine and a rotary hoist clothesline) Catch the bus after school to the local shops (you will select a bus route that travels from Aspect WesternSydney School to Westfield at Liverpool)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These occupations will be important in coming years and be foundations for Michael living independently in the future and learning more complex living activities. You will focus on the occupation that your group completed an occupation\/activity\/task analysis for in Assessment Item 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Question<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Outline your strategy for assessing Michael<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Write an occupational performance problem statement for Michae<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Outline which goal you will work on with Michael in SMART goal format long goal which consists of all activities of the occupation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Write a GAS goal for Michael no word count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Outline the intervention approaches and the teaching strategies you will employ in your intervention plan \u2013 occupational adaptation, visual cehcklists, promps, negative and positive feedback, graded activities, environmental modifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Discuss your use of outcome measurement<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Discuss how your intervention plan achieves a P-E-O fit for Michael<\/p>\n\n\n\n
