Preparing A Strategic Communication Plan For Public Policy Assignment

Assignment Task

Instructions

Working individually, you are to prepare a public policy communication strategy, you will need to propose how you would communicate a public policy to its key audience. This assessment is preparation for the final report.

Questions that should be answered include:

1. What is the public policy that you are communicating? Explain.

2. Who is the target audience for your public policy? Explain.

3. How would you frame your selected public policy for your target audience and why?

4. Which public policy communication strategy did you adopt to develop your communication strategy? Explain.

In answering these questions, you should draw from the weekly learning content of Weeks 1-4 and the required, but also recommended, readings whilst doing so. This assessment will test your ability to apply content from weeks 1-4.

For example, I (Jean-Paul) would approach this assessment by trying to work the content we have covered between weeks 1-4 in answering each of the questions. I would talk about how I selected and analyzed the public policy, how I defined my audience, how I tailored a narrative for that audience, and lastly how I planned on communicating everything to my selected audience. I would give justifications for my decisions and, again, I would do this by weaving in required readings, class content, and even the occasional recommended reading. I’d be sure to include relevant evidence from the OECD Report that’s acting like our textbook for this class.

Question generation is encouraged and there’s no need to worry about your presentation style – we all have our own ways of speaking, so be yourself, speech style will not be marked and all approaches to speech, your personal style, etc., are welcomed and encouraged.
