You have recently been appointed as the HR Manager at Future Technologies. Future Technologies is a software development company which was established 12 months ago. It has grown rapidly and it now has a staff complement of 107 employees.
Future Technologies does not have an HR Department and you are the first HR Manager to be appointed at the company. The CEO has asked you to set up the HR Department and you decide to start with the Recruitment and Selection function first.
Question 1
As your first task, you decide to develop a recruitment policy for Future Technologies. Develop the recruitment policy using the following headings:
- Purpose of the Recruitment Policy
- Person-Organisation Fit or Diversity
- Sources of Recruitment and Recruitment Methods (Internal and/or External)
- Employment Equity
- Alternatives to Recruitment
Question 2
Before you were appointed as HR Manager at Future Technologies, the CEO had started a recruitment drive to try find a suitable candidate for the vacant position of Finance Director. Now that you are working at Future Technologies the CEO gives you 56 CVs which were sent to him in application of the position of Finance Director. The CEO asks you design the selection process which should be followed to select the new Finance Director.
Write an email to the CEO and Management Committee to inform them of the selection process which Future Technologies will follow in selecting a Finance Director.
Question 3
You have been invited to represent Future Technologies at the ‘HR in the Technology Industry Conference’ where you have been asked to deliver a speech on structured interviews and reference checks.
