Milestone 1- Reflection and Research Question

Reflection on one chosen essential reading by Gary H (2018), Timimi (2014), Deacon (2013), OR Gambrill (2014)- what things didn’t I know about the topic/issue before I read the essential reading and what have I learned now, what content in the article was most interesting to me and piqued my interest in the topic, what am I left wanting to know/research further about a specific area/topic/issue relating to diagnostic classification approaches to psychopathology OR medicalization of behavior as a result, and therefore why do I need to research this further and then implement that new knowledge to improve my clinical practice?

Milestone 2- Search Strategy and Literature

Search strategy – using full sentence paragraph format, what were the inclusion/exclusion criteria, databases, exact search terms, and limiters I used to search for journal articles answering my research question? You must not use any sources other than journal articles (do not use books, book chapters, theses/dissertations, websites, government reports etc.)

Milestone 3- Evidence Synthesis

Synthesis matrix – using my literature matrix and the content in my five chosen journal articles, synthesise the articles’ content into three common themes that specifically provide the answer to my research question. Provide relevant content from your sources that forms the evidence-base for each of your common themes. The content in this table needs to be adequately paraphrased or correctly quoted from your articles. You must include the specific page number(s) location of your content from your articles irrespective of whether you are paraphrasing or quoting (max. 175 words per article. Full sentences are not required here – use sentence fragments)

Milestone 4- Integration

Synthesized answer to my PIO/PEO research question – using the three common themes and information in both my literature matrix and my evidence synthesis matrix to inform me, what is the critically analyzed/evaluative, synthesized answer to my research question? Remember that you identified limitations to your studies/articles in Milestone 2 that specifically impacted the answer to your question, so this impact needs to be acknowledged as part of your synthesized answer.
