Assignment Task
Example using the Big 5
Using the Big 5 personality Model (Robbins et al, 2019, p.80-81), Jane demonstrates the following: “Jane scores high on extraversion. According to Robbins et al “Extraverts tend to be gregarious, assertive and sociable…” (2019, p.80). An example of this characteristic is Jane’s frequent involvement in organising staff birthday parties at which she regularly MC’s”. On the dimension of conscientiousness (p.80) where people high on this dimension are usually “… responsible, organised, dependable and persistent..(p.80)” Jane is always first to meet deadlines on project planning milestones. In line with Jane’s extraverted style, her agreeableness (people who demonstrate a warm and trusting approach to staff, p.80) contributes to very high ratings on her customer satisfaction scores in relation to her interpersonal skills. When dealing with difficult customers and in tense planning meetings, Jane is never ruffled or flustered, suggesting she is high on emotional stability (Robbins et al, 2019, p.80). Finally, Jane’s value to her team and the organisation is partly due to her ability to come up with solutions to problems others may not see. An example of this recently was her suggestion for customers to receive feedback on their complaints within 24 hours and with a gift voucher offered as a reward for their comments. This example reflects her relatively high score on the openness to experience dimension of the Big 5 (p.80).
