DLT Investigative Task

1. Aim

Learners will present the fundamental concepts of distributed ledgers and the challenges around their effective deployment. Learners will also critically evaluate the research literature pertaining to state-of-the-art distributed ledger technologies.

2. Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and critical understanding of DLTs, their simulation and appraisal.
  • Demonstrate a critical awareness of current practices in the development of DLTs and related validation issues.

3. Assessment Brief:

DLTs have been attracting increasing interests from across a wide variety of companies. Businesses have started operating with a new business model that is based around a DLT. The learner should individually produce a report, formatted as per a scientific literature review publication, researching aspects included but not limited to, current development, applications, best practices, business models, future trends and so on, around DLTs. The research should critically evaluate state-of-the-art developments in the development and deployment of DLTs. This must include an investigation of the technical and non-technical (legal, social, ethical, and professional) related issues.
