Global E-Commerce Company Setting A New Warehouse In Tuas Crescent Assignment

An global e-commence company Headquarter (HQ) at Loyang Crescent is undergoing expansion and plan to setup another warehouse to be located in Tuas Crescent.

Currently, the office at Loyang Crescent have around 450 employees and planning to increase headcount to 500. The upcoming Tuas Crescent warehouse office will have up to 110 employees. Total number of desktop machines for both sites are 300 and 350 laptops. Most of the business applications are in the cloud environment.

The company’s IT manager knew you had done a few networking projects during your Polytechnics Internships Programme and would like you to propose a networking design based on the following requirements:

The HQ office is a building with up to 7th floors. Here are the details:

  • Ground level is the reception with up to 10 meeting rooms – 4 employees
  • 2nd level is the Warehouse Department – 190 employees
  • 3rd level is IT Department – 40 employees
  • 4th level is Operation Support Department – 64 employees
  • 5th level is Sales and Marketing Department – 126 employees
  • 6th level is Management and Human Resource Department – 20 employees
  • 7th level is the cafeteria, mini-greenery corner with gym facilities – 8 employees

The warehouse office at Tuas Crescent comprises of the following:

  • Warehouse Department – 24 employees
  • Operation Support Department – 66 employees
  • IT Department – 16 employees

Please do take note there is a WAN between HQ office and the Warehouse office, as employees in warehouse office will need to access servers located at HQ office.

Basic Requirements

1. Design VLSM using the private address range for all sites within the company (headquarter and warehouse). Headquarter network should use IP address from 192.168.0.0/16 range and Warehouse network should use IP address from 192.190.0.0/16 range.

2. VLANs must be created with appropriate names and VLAN numbers. Inter-VLAN routing should be implemented.

3. IP address for Endpoints shall be configured through DHCP or manual way, endpoints in all networks shall be able to reach each other. Official (Open)

4. Headquarter office and warehouse office will be connected through WAN links. Either static or dynamic routing shall be configured to ensure connectivity between two sites.

5. Additional features can be implemented for extra credits.
