Assessment Task Instructions
Aim of assessment
You are required to develop a recorded presentation with which to educate your peers in a clinical environment.
Content
Your task is to develop a professional, recorded PowerPoint presentation, using Panopto, with which to educate your peers in a clinical environment and to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the unit content.
You are required to:
1. demonstrate to the marker your knowledge and understanding of the importance of person-centred care in the context of the functional consequence theory of promoting wellness for older
2. prepare a presentation that will enable your peers in a clinical environment to understand the concepts that underpin the Functional Consequences Theory for older adults including age-related changes, risk factors and functional consequences, nursing interventions and wellness outcomes.
To do this you need to explain/define the concepts of functional consequence theory. To read about the functional consequence theory, please refer to the core text for the unit and the supplementary textbooks by Hunter and Miller 2016 e-book and 2021 version.
To help with the development of your presentation, bring to your mind a vivid image of an older friend, relative or patient who is at least 85 years old, with obvious functional consequences such as:
1. impaired mobility
2. impaired vision
3. impaired hearing
4. impaired nutrition and hydration.
You are required to select one out of the four obvious functional consequences provided above and use it as an example to support your explanation of the functional consequence theory to your audience.
