The unit will enable students to illustrate the impact of the law on normal business operations and when registering a company and inviting shareholders to invest in it. They will gain an understanding of the law in relation to market abuse and director responsibilities. Students will be able to recognise the application of employment law while gaining a practical understanding of the skills and experiences undertaken by those practicing in a business law context.

Vocational scenario

You are working in a law firm and advising new start-up companies on the legal system and key legislations that are required to know by them and how they apply to their companies. You have been asked to produce a handbook for the new companies in order to support the business advice and guidance given by you.

Assignment activity

The handbook must include the following sections:

  1. An explanation of the different sources of law.
  2. An explanation on the role of government in law making and how statutory and common law is applied in the justice courts
  3. An evaluation on the effectiveness of the legal system in terms of recent reforms and developments

Scenario

In your role as a paralegal, you have been invited to attend a Small Business Expo conference that will be held in UAE. You will be doing a speech as a guest speaker on how different types of organizations are legally formed and provide local advice and guidance to the businesses.

For that purpose, you need to prepare a detailed report. The report should consist the following:

  2. A detailed explanation should be provided on how business organisations are managed and funded.
  3. An analysis is also required about the advantages and disadvantages of the formation of different types of business organisations.
