Technology Demonstrator for a Rotating Space Station Assignment

Introduction

A rotating wheel space station, also known as a von Braun wheel, is a concept for a hypothetical wheel-shaped space station. Originally proposed by Konstantin Tsiolkovsky in 1903, the idea was expanded by Herman Potočnik in 1929.This type of station rotates about its axis, creating an environment of artificial gravity. Occupants of the station would experience centripetal acceleration, according to the following equation

The primary aim of this project is to work on research and study how the system can aim for long-term and deep space crewed exploration missions by minimising the health risks to astronauts that are associated with microgravity environments. This concept has existed since ages but people haven’t really thought of turning it into reality except for very few. Since, Space Science is basically turning science fiction into reality, I would love to research on the designs, concepts and also cost of building the respective design and study more about the problems and possible solutions.

Orbital Assembly Corporation

They are working on 2 projects, Pioneer Station and Voyager Station that revolves around the idea of artificial gravity.

Gateway Spaceport

They are building a space station, Vera Station using a rotating design.

Research

Many other ongoing research are being carried out by organizations and engineers related to artificial gravity and rotating mechanisms.
