Assignment Task
Use ArcGIS Pro as a main application. Use a geodatabase as a data structure to store your data and incorporate Model Builder or Python as part of your analysis.
The work will be shared via a Web App, along with a supporting Story Map. Therefore, to fulfill the requirements of the Final project, you will also create two applications:
- Final Project Web App: web app of your final findings and final results. You can use ArcGIS Story Maps, ArcGIS Online templates, ArcGIS Experience Builder, Insights workbook or any web app of your choice. Please have any ArcGIS Pro projects exported to web maps or web layers, and embedded in the web app. If appropriate, please include graphics of any Model Builder models or Python scripts. Intent of this is to see your work in ArcGIS Pro.
- Supporting Story Map, which explains the project: Think of this Story Map as a written report that is required, however, instead of writing a paper report, we will create a Story Map. The Story Map must explain all sections of this template – background, introduction, data, database schema, analysis workflows, data outputs and visualization, and references. Please include images/screenshots, web maps and feature layers within the Story Map. Please also embed images of any Model Builder models or Python Scripts you’ve used.
Please answer the following questions in the supporting Story Map.
Background
How did you decide to work on this particular study question? What is the need for this project? What is the benefit to you and others? State any required skill level of intended user community.
Introduction
Background on the data layers or model developed for the project. Did you pick the project based on previous research? Did you adapt an existing model for use in this project? What is the hypothesis of your project? If you are trying to determine an optimal location for a new feature, what are the criteria by which you will determine this location? What are the assumptions of your project? What are the constraints?
Data
Identify all pertinent data layers used for this project. Explain the different data layers against which any geoprocessing tools were executed. List your sources of data, and any data restrictions. List any accuracy issues. Describe the attribute information required and used in the project.
Database Schema
Describe how the data for this project is stored and managed.
Analysis Workflow
Describe your analysis workflow. Did you use Model Builder (include a graphic of the model from Model Builder)? What tools did you use to create the model output? How many output layers/tables did you create and how are you using them in the analysis?
Data Output
What are your results (output)? Do they support the assumptions you identified in the Introduction? Do the results support the hypothesis or are you able to identify a clear decision based on the spatial analysis of the final results?
Visualization of Output
Please embed your Web App and explain what it shows. As stated in the instructions, please have any ArcGIS Pro projects exported to web maps or web layers, and embedded in the web app. Please also embed images of any Model Builder models you’ve built. Intent of this is to see your work in ArcGIS Pro.
