You will complete three holistic practical care skills while on placement in one or both ELC placement settings. You are required to choose one of the practical care skills from each of the columns below (A, B, C).

For each task you will include:

  • A reflection on the following using the ERA (Jasper) Reflective Cycle:
    • Organisation and preparation of the task
    • Communication with stakeholders (staff and children)
    • Health and Safety awareness, before, during and after the task and including the local policies, procedures, and regulations
    • Application of knowledge on relevant skills undertaken background knowledge of the task chosen
  • Practical skills: outline of how the task was completed
  • Analysis And Reflection Of Task

    1. Description of the experience/care skill – what happened.
    2. Reflect on the experience/skill – Why it happened / how did you feel.
    3. Action – the next time you encounter this care skill what would you change.

    References and a reference list

    The assignment may be presented by a variety of means, for example video, oral presentation, essay, report etc. Where you present your work in written form, the word count should be approximately 1200-1500 words (400 – 500 per task). Where you present in an oral format, it should be approximately 8-12 minutes long.

    Engagement with this activity while on professional practice placement is mandatory. The professional practice placement supervisor(s) will verify engagement with the activity and this will be confirmed during the tripartite meetings.
