Aim
• The aim of this project is to construct a simulation model in Arena for a medical centre. Setup
• The medical centre operates 8 hours daily from 9 am to 5 pm.
• The medical centre closes sharply at 5 pm but will keep operating until the last patient leaves.
• The simulation will run for 1 replication.
Entities
- Entities (Patients) inter-arrival time follows a distribution of EXPO(5) minutes with the first arrival happening at time 0.
- Entities have signed up for different medical check-up plans. The corresponding distribution is as follows.
a) 50% of the patients have signed up for the "Regular annual body check for 18-65" (Physical Exam + X-Ray + Blood Sampling)
b) 30% of the patients have signed up for the "Regular annual body check for >=65" (Physical Exam + X-Ray + Blood Sampling + Urine and Stood Sampling)
c) 20% of the patients have signed up for the "Pre-employment Drug Testing" (Blood Sampling + Urine and Stood Sampling). Within this 20%, 75% are at age 18-65, while 25% are at age >=65. - Entities will visit the medical/examination rooms (i.e. stations) according to the above orders. For example, a patient who has signed up for the "Regular annual body check for 18-65" will first visit the physical exam room to conduct the physical exam.
- The walking speed of an entity remains constant once it is created. However, entities have different walking speeds. For patients at ages 18-65, their speeds follow a distribution of UNIF(0.3,1) meter/second. For patients at ages >=65, their speeds follow a distribution of UNIF(0.15,0.5) meter/second.
- Once an entity has conducted all the tests/exams in his/her medical check-up plan, he/she visits the doctor to have a medical consultation.
- After the consultation, he/she leaves the clinic.
Animation
• Animate resources and their corresponding seize areas. For sets, animate each member in the set separately.
• Use different symbols/icons to represent resources in their busy and idle states.
• Animate the queues.
• Animate the movement of the entities according to their speeds and the distance between locations.
