CORPORATE ETHICS AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this exercise is to (1) encounter an ethical dilemma associated with a corporate decision; (2) research and articulate a framework or methodology for dealing with the fact pattern from a commercial and ethical and socially responsible perspective; and (3) apply your framework / methodology as you examine, assess, and evaluate the dilemma, including assessing potential ramifications associated with diversity, equity, and inclusion. Entrepreneurial writing laboratory days may be designated for purposes of allowing, among other things, writing, peer review, error discussion, and content analysis.

MEMORANDUM

Write a memorandum to the Chief Executive Officer between 1,250 words (5 pages, double- spaced) that evaluates the dilemma by leveraging information from class, the textbook, discussions, current events research, and other sources you deem relevant or appropriate, but not necessarily required.

• Research different “frameworks” that you might use for determining and evaluating your decision and for understanding the potential impact of your decision on diversity, equity, and inclusion. For purposes of corporate social responsibility, you may want to leverage the Business Roundtable, August 2019, Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation.

• Leverage information on diversity, equity, and inclusion, including information to the extent applicable derived from a BUSA1000 workshop on the subject as well as other available resources you deem relevant or appropriate.

• Take time to research. Understand the multiple perspectives on the topic.
