Hypothesis: Are men more likely to get the death penalty than women?

Prediction: Men are more likely to get the death penalty than women.

I.Title page: Don’t forget to put the running head at the top leftcorner of your title page. The main title should have your researchpaper title, your name on the line below it, and the name of youruniversity on the next line.

II.Abstract(Should consist of 120 words. It should sum up the goal of thestudy, the sample of participants selected, the procedure, and theconclusions of the study)

III.Introduction(In a graduate thesis, this section is divided into 2: theIntroduction and the Literature Review. But this is is an undergraduatepaper so title it as Introduction)

Some ideas to develop here are:

A: 1. The background to theproblem you are doing your study on (Support by citing a study on thisproblem or issue from a scholarly article in a peer-reviewed journal)

2. The currentmanifestations or existence of the problem or issue you areresearching( Support by citing a study on this problem or issue from a scholarly article in a peer-reviewed journal)

3. How other researchershave tried to solve this problem, or helped find solutions to theproblem( Support by citing a study on this problem or issue from a scholarly article in a peer-reviewed journal ).

B: 1. The purpose of thisresearch(you can talk about the reason for the research, the researchquestion, the independent variable, and the dependent variable)

2. Hypothesis

3. Prediction

IV. Methodology

1. Participants(Sample size, sampling technique, etc)

2. Materials(Describe your questionnaire; the number of items, whether or it has been standardized, etc)

3. Procedure(How the questionnaires were given out, administered, and scored)

V.Results (T-test results, whether it was significant to indicate thatthere was a significant difference between the two groups/levels of yourindependent variable and whether or not your hypothesis was supported).

VI. Discussion

1. The conclusions of the study(State whether yourhypothesis and predictions were supported. If not, state that too.)

2. Some reasons for your particular results, andwhether or not the conclusions were supported by previous studies.

3. Some problems encountered during the research.E.g. The difficulty of designing your own questionnaire, gettingparticipants, etc.

4. Some suggestions on how the study or research can be improved by a future researcher.

VII.References(Make sure it is in APA Style. If unsure, visit the WritingLab for help. NOTE: There should be a minimum of 4 peer-reviewedarticles in your references. Wikipedia does not count!).
