Team 1 (Defendant): In favor of using 360° feedback for offical employee performance evaluation/review/appraisal.

  1. What does research indicate about the prevalence of bias in performance evaluations and how might 360° feedback reduce this bias?
  2. How might the use of 360° feedback reduce the stress and anxiety that employees often experience when receiving feedback from their supervisors?
  3. Which organizations have switched to using 360° feedback for official employee performance evaluation and how has this benefited both employees and organizations more broadly?

Team 2 (Plaintiff): In favor of using only supervisor ratings for official employee performance evaluation/review/appraisal.

  1. In what ways are supervisors more credible raters of employee performance relative to others?
  2. How might the use of 360° feedback exacerbate the issues that already exist when using supervisors as the sole raters of employee performance?
  3. How might alternative rating sources such as coworkers and/or subordinates be motivated to give an employee a poor evaluation for personal reasons and how does this undermine the integrity of using 360° feedback for official employee performance evaluation?
