Final Self-Reflection Paper:
This paper is meant to be an integrative, complex, and scholarly paper. Your paper needs to be conceptually sound, integrate original thoughts and outside research, and connect theory to practice. This assignment diverges from the traditional analytic leadership case analysis. This essay should reflect the culmination of your thoughts about ethics and leadership and how they can be applied to your own leadership development and practice as well as benefit the criminal justice field holistically. Rather than crafting a statement about your beliefs in general, you are asked to write a concise summary of your beliefs about leadership and ethics in the criminal justice system/public sector. In your analysis, please consider how the theories/models/frameworks that we have been discussing in class may help support your perspectives. The final draft should consist of the following (excluding an Introduction and Conclusion):
- Introduction
- Evaluate at least three ethical theorist,
- Identify and describe which ethical theorist you consider to be the most influential to you as a criminal justice leader and why,
- Evaluate at least three ethical systems and describe their nexus to the criminal justice field,
- Identify and describe the system you most align with in your personal life and why,
- Identify and describe the ethical system you ascribe to professionally and why (if different from your person system, please explain),
- Translate how you have or plan to apply the ethical systems, theories, and frameworks discussed in this class to your leadership role in criminal justice (now and/or in future positions), and
- Formulate your recommendation(s) to existing and future criminal justice leaders regarding the sustainability of ethics in the field in order to help gain more community and societal trust.
