REL 315 Arizona State University The Hebrew Bible Discussion Questions
I’m working on a religion multi-part question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
1.Discuss and illustrate Hayes claim on p. 232 that the historiography of the Deuteronomistic history is the response of one segment of the Israelite community to the events (destructions) of 722 and 586 BCE. Explain how these narratives understand Yahwehs control and involvement in the history of Israel.
2.Characterize the nature of prophets as represented in the Hebrew Bible and illustrate with information about either Amos, Hosea or Isaiah. Discuss the formation of biblical prophetic literature, and how, as claimed in Hayes on p. 297, it helped some Israelites make sense of their situation and remain distinct and invulnerable to identity loss.
