In this week’s lab we will be analyzing the data from the APA Laboratory experiments that the class participated in last week.

You will be conducting an analysis and interpretation write up for a one-way ANOVA (Be A Juror or Reaction Time Color experiments) and for a two-way ANOVA (Word Recognition or Poggendorff Illusion experiments).

You can use the previous lab tutorials and walk through to revisit how to run these analyses, if necessary.  Templates and a ppt for the write-up are provided.

Objective:  The purpose of this assignment is to analyze and interpret the class data from the OPL experiments that you participated in and described in the last assignment.

Tutorials:

One-way ANOVA (independent measures)

One-way ANOVA (repeated measures)

Two-way ANOVA (repeated measures or mixed design)

Assignment:

For this assignment you will run the appropriate JASP analysis for the two experimental studies that you selected in the last lab assignment.  If you do not recall the steps for running the analysis you can review the appropriate lab tutorial above for assistance. You will then write a results summary based on the JASP output using the results templates provided.

Experiment Data Files:

  • Be A Juror class data Download Be A Juror class data
  • Reaction Time Color class data Download Reaction Time Color class data
  • Word Recognition class data Download Word Recognition class data
  • Poggendorff Illusion class data Download Poggendorff Illusion class data

PART 1:  One-Way ANOVA analysis and interpretation (5 points)

Open the data file and upload the data file in JASP for your first selected experiment (Be A Juror or Reaction Time Color)

Perform the proper analysis in JASP being sure to select all the appropriate options:

  • Be A Juror requires an independent measures (between-subjects) one-way ANOVA (IV conditions: 1 = No Eyewitness, 2 = Unrefuted Eyewitness, 3 = Discredited Eyewitness)
  • Reaction Time Color requires a repeated measures (within-subjects) one-way ANOVA for the RM factor Task Type

Write a results summary for the experiment based on the instructions in the power point for a one-way ANOVA results write-up:

PART 2:  Two-Way ANOVA analysis and interpretation (5 points)

Open the data file and upload the data file in JASP for your second selected experiment (Word Recognition or Poggendorff Illusion)

Perform the proper analysis in JASP being sure to select all the appropriate options:

  • Word Recognition requires a mixed design (independent measures + repeated measures) two-way ANOVA with Handedness (L, R, Not Specified) as the between-subjects factor and hemifield display (left/right) as the repeated measures factor.
  • Poggendorff Illusion requires a repeated measures (within-subjects) two-way ANOVA for the RM factors of Vertical Separation and Diagonal Line Length.

Write a results summary for the experiment based on the instructions in the power point for a two-way ANOVA results write-up:
