When international businesses are expanding into new nations, they must take cultural factors into account before doing so. These variables include the host country’s cultural norms, traditions, and values as well as its language, beliefs, and religion. In this assignment, I will explain three cultural norms and what they look like for Premier exports, then analyze one way my selected import/export business would struggle:

Language: Communication is essential when running a business, therefore it is important that businesses that are expanding abroad into foreign markets should try to pick up the language of the nation they are operating in. This means this is crucial when making business decisions, general business communication, and preventing misunderstandings, which is crucial when
operating in a foreign country. This is advantageous because it will enable business organizations to create teams with members from various racial and cultural backgrounds.

Alternatively, to aid in communication, they could also hire locals that are fluent in the native tongue and can also help them with the other cultural factors. In the UK, the main language is by far English. In 2021, 52.6 million people had English as a main language in England and Wales, which is approximately 91.1 percent of the population.

Although the number of English speakers has grown in number since 2011, when there were 49.8 million speakers, as a share of the population it has declined by 1.2 percent. (Published by D. Clark & 9, 2023). However, The most prevalent language other than English spoken by the population in England and Wales in 2021 was Polish, which was spoken by 611,845 people.

Romanian and Panjabi, which had 471,945 and 290,745 speakers. (Published by D. Clark & 9, 2023). Premier Export is able to operate successfully within this culture because the company is from England and English is a widely spoken language, especially in the business world, therefore communicating wouldn’t be an issue. However, if they were to move to another international market where this was not the case they may struggle because the language barrier could interfere with their operations.
