ENG4012 Aerospace Systems Design Project Assignment Help
ENG4012 Aerospace Systems Design Project - University of Glasgow
Space Mission Analysis and Trajectory Design
Purpose: The purpose of this ICA is to demonstrate and introduce space mission analysis theory/trajectory calculation and design using industry standard software.
1. Complete the Tutorials on GMAT as advised in the class. The tutorial list is shown below:-
- Simulating an Orbit
- Simple Orbit Transfer
- Target Finite Burn to Raise Apogee
- Mars B-Plane Targeting
- Finding Eclipses and Station Contacts
- Electric Propulsion
2. Numerical calculation and software demonstration
A satellite was carried into low earth circular orbit (LEO) at an altitude of 600 km and is to be transferred to a geostationary orbit (GEO) at 36,000 km using a Hohmann transfer. Please show the characteristics of the transfer and the total Av and Avi required. Compute mathematically and compare results with the trajectory analysis from the GMAT software.
The report must include:-
a) The steps taken during the computation and orbital trajectory design in GMAT software
b) Comment on the results and discuss where Inaccuracies are likely to have occurred. Give full details of all aspects of your analyses; explain what you did, why you did it in that particular way, and what other alternatives there may have been. Identify any problems you had, and how you got over them.
c) The report should follow the structure of a technical report. [MAX 2000 words]
