Hill Chapter 4.National Differences in Culture. Social mobility; Caste and class systems;  Hofstede’s Dimensions; Table 4.1 know USA’s relative position (hi, low, middle).

Hill Chapter 7. Political Economy of International Trade Topics: tariffs (all types), subsidies, import quota, tariff rate quote, VER, local content requirement, Dumping.

Hill Chapter 9.Regional Economic Integration. Levels of economic integration (know differences and examples), EFTA, Single European Act, Establishment of euro (know which EU members do not use euro, check online), NAFTA, Mercosur, FTAA. ASEAN members. 

Hill Chapter 12.The Strategy of IB. Location economies, Learning effects, Economies of scale, 4 basic Int’l strategies and related pressures (figure 12.9) and examples, Advantages and disadvantages of strategic alliances.

Hill Chapter 13.Entering Foreign Markets. First mover advantages, Six entry mode types and 2 advantages/disadvantages of each (plus examples).Pros and cons of acquisitions. 

Questions will be based on material covered on topics listed above.  Information beyond this scope will not be on the exam.
