Assignment 1: Performance Improvement Planning

The underlying objective of a performance management system is to improve the performance of individuals and teams leading to improved organisational performance.  Accordingly, develop a SMART Action Plan outlining one performance-related goal and one development-related goal.  Your plan should include the following:

  • For each goal: Justify how/why the goal is relevant to your role and the desired outcome on completion of the goal.
  • Assess how each goal will contribute to meeting your continuing professional development, your business unit’s objectives, and how it is aligned with the organisational strategy or values.
  • Develop each goal utilising the SMART goal framework and SMART goal statements.
  • Reflect on challenges encountered and any key learning in utilising the SMART goal framework in the development of goals.
