Assignment title - Finding and using information

In this assessment you will have opportunities to provide evidence against the following criteria. Indicate the page numbers where the evidence can be found.

To achieve the criteria the evidence must show that the learner is able to:

1. Use appropriate information sources to solve an engineering task.

2. Review the information sources obtained to solve an engineering task and explain why some sources have been used but others rejected.

Scenario - Part of your BTEC course, is to complete an electronic / mechanical / CAD designs or even learn new material / theory. To complete this work, research has had to be carried out. Trusting and understanding the information is imperative to a successful outcome.

Task 1 - (Use appropriate information sources to solve an engineering task)

You have had to research information and interpret the information at some point. This information could have been computer based or non-computer based.

1a) Provide at least two pieces of information you have used to help you in your course. One piece MUST be Non- internet based (e.g. manufacturers catalogue, book, data sheets)

You must provide a report on each piece of information stating:

Where the information came from?

What part of the information did you use towards your course?

How did the information help you solve the engineering task?

You can draw annotations on the information if required.

Task 2 -(Review the information sources obtained to solve an engineering task and explain why some sources have been used but others rejected)

2a) From task 1a, review and reflect on the information sources used. You must provide a report on each piece of information. The reports must include details on:

Was the information used, or rejected.

Was the information accurate and correct?
